It is specially used for the passenger and freight train traction task of the Golmud-Lhasa section of China's Qinghai-Tibet Railway. This type of locomotive uses electronically controlled fuel-injected diesel engines and AC drive technology. It still has high reliability and traction performance along the plateau railway where the air is thin, and under special geographical and climatic conditions.
